Theater

"Acting is the ability to react to imaginary stimuli to create

real thoughts and feelings under imaginary circumstances."

LEE STRASBERG

The Musical Theatre/Drama classes offer exposure to all types of theatre. Students begin right away, working on shows. These thematic shows incorporate acting, dancing and singing skills.

In addition to the shows, students work on individual acting skills such as projection, stage direction, commercial and play writing, vocal training, improvisation, role playing and so much more. Technical aspects of theatre such as directing, costuming, make-up and use of video and sound equipment are also taught.

The students are exposed to different types of theatre by attending a variety of shows in the community. The students also have many opportunities to perform for the community. Performances include visits to local businesses, nursing homes, fairs and events.

Being involved in theater at Bethune allows the students to not only learn many theatre skills, but builds self confidence and self discipline qualities that strengthen student performance in drama, class, work and everyday life.
